You'll find books in every category--fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, children's books, collector's items and much more. You'll also find CDs, videos, and audiobooks. Books start at just a quarter. We're staffed entirely by volunteers. Hassle-free parking is behind the store.
Donations of books will be accepted Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, BEHIND the store in our parking lot. Enter off 7th Street, near corner of Grant Avenue. Be sure to consult our Donation Guidelines before packing your donations. Thank you in advance!
Masks are optional; please wear one if you are more comfortable doing so.
We’re having a Bag Sale!
Our shelves are filled-to-bursting with popular Fiction and Mysteries, so we thought it was time to try a Bag Sale just on those two categories. Our one-day sale is Saturday, October 5, from 10-4, and here are the details:

Pay $12 to fill a standard paper grocery bag; please do not bring any oversized reusable bags

If you only find a few books, you can purchase at the reduced price of $2 for Fiction and $1 for Mystery Hardcover or large softcover

Literature, Science Fiction, Romance and Current Releases are EXCLUDED

Cash or check only, so come prepared (small bills appreciated)

Park in back for easy in-and-out via our back door

October at The Book Place
There’s lots going on at the store this month. Our specials include 50% off Religion and Spirituality sections, along with Art (specially-priced art and collectibles are excluded).
Our spooky collection of Halloween books is up in the Kids’ Room - lots to choose from for all ages!
We take Requests - send us an email, we’ll look for the book to save time, or, if it’s a book we don’t have in stock, get on our waitlist, and we’ll let you know when it comes in.
The Book Place is operated by the Friends of the Marin County Free Library, a nonprofit volunteer organization. All proceeds are used for special programs, needs, and materials for the Marin County Free Libraries.
